While Park City has long been known as an alpine skiing destination, Summit County’s Nordic Trail System has blossomed to nearly 80 kilometers of superbly groomed trail. As fat-tire bikes, snowshoeing and winter trail running grow in popularity, the winter single-track trails are expanding likewise.

Happy Friday trail lovers and leaf peepers! Your weekend trail update, technicolor-dream addition for this, the last weekend of September...

Today (Friday) and tomorrow morning will be your best bets for trail adventures, with rain in the forecast Saturday nite into Sunday.

*Trail Closures*
Silver Queen will remain closed this weekend. #apextrails has completed a major overhaul on the trail but the turns are SUPER-dry and loose. With rain in the forecast, the trail should be ride-ready by mid-week, next week. We promise, it'll be worth the wait.

Deer Valley Resort reports a short reroute on the Mid Mountain trail near the Montage (see image) while they perform a haul-rope splice on Ruby Express.

The MTF crew spent the week plugging away on both the Seldom Seen trail and Bonanza loop. We're hoping for an opening on both of these trails late next week, weather dependent.

I’m all for hiking, biking trails. Hike most every day but in my opinion, in Bonanza Flat you’re building to many, to fast. Taking out low impact hiking trails that have been lightly used for generations and replacing with high impact that reach to the ends of moose habitat. Please slow your roll.

TGIF Park City! This weekend, TGIF also works for Trails are Glorious In the Fall. Your trail update for September 22nd-24th...

We received some heavy downpours and even some dime-sized hail late yesterday. That said, conditions may be a little greasy this morning but should improve later today and be stellar Saturday and Sunday.

Silver Queen will remain closed this weekend as Derek Thomson and Apex trails continue to give her a makeover but we promise it'll be worth the wait. We expect it to reopen by mid-week, next week.

The MTF crew spent the week plugging away on Seldom Seen and the Bonanza loop and great progress has been made on both trails. The big project this week was the completion of a native timber bridge in the upper reaches of the Bonanza loop. This was a true team effort and we're pretty stoked with the finished product.

The leaves are popping and the recent moisture should set us up for some of the best trail conditions of the year. Get out there and partake of the technicolor, brown pow buffet! You'll definitely want to go back for seconds. And while you're at it, share some pics of your trail adventures this weekend. #trailreport

The maples are all time epic colors, here on lower Armstrong. BTW, I stumbled upon Armstrong Ranch the other day, must be who trail is named for, benefactor?

Thanking the bikers for leaving raspberry snacks for hikers on upper Armstrong. 😎

To get to these nice trails on foot, one needs to park at The Bloods Lake Trailhead or The Bonanza Flat Trailhead. A long way for those getting long on their years and always packed to the gills. The Y was the best and the most logical place. Anticipate many will be disappointed these next few weeks.

Is silver queen up and running?

Anyone know how Armstrong, mother Urbans, mid mountain are-dried out or muddy this afternoon?
