Know before you go!

Visit our interactive map for the latest info, trail guide, and conditions. Keep your eyes peeled on the trails for QR codes directing hikers to safe trails and practices.

Things to know before you go

Where can I park?

Most of the trailheads have some parking, but it is limited. Luckily, we have free transportation in Park City, and we recommend that you utilize a Park n’ Ride lot to help reduce traffic and parking issues at the trails. If you plan to drive and park, check out our live parking cams before you choose your trail area.

What is the “trail user pledge”?
  • I will understand and employ the rules of the Right of Way
  • I will not disturb wildlife and will give animals adequate time and space to adjust
  • I will practice 10 seconds of kindness.
slow down • smile • safety first
  • I will coexist – I will be respectful and understanding of different trail users and their needs.
  • I will avoid muddy conditions and be sensitive to the dirt beneath my heels or wheels #RutsSUCK
  • I will be aware of my speed and line of sight and will make my presence know (bike bell, verbal)
  • I will LEAVE NO TRACE on the environment (pack out trash and dog waste)
  • I will adhere to all trail closures for my safety and sustainability of the trails
  • I will be a responsible dog owner by keeping my dog under control at all times and picking up after it.
  • I will be a positive voice for the trails.
What does it mean to “leave no trace”?

Please clean up after yourself and your pets. Travel on marked trails durable surfaces. Dispose of waste properly.

How can I be cautious?

Speed is the biggest factor in trail incidents. Slow down, smile and give space to other users.

Skidding corners permanently damages trails. Instead, slow down earlier and coast through the turn.

Should I have a bell?

Bells on trails keep everyone safe. Use and listen for them while you are on the trails. Pick up a freebie at a local shop or pick up a membership gift from Mountain Trails.

Singletrack courtesy

Consider using the marked winter singletrack when biking, snowshoeing or hiking. Winter singletrack is a lot more fun and using it will help preserve the groomed trails for other users.

How can I help reduce melting?

Dark spots accelerate melting. Help reduce melting by removing debris from trails and avoid tracking mud onto the snow.

What if the ground is soft?

Please do not ride (fat bikes and mountain bikes) if you are leaving a rut. If snow or dirt is too wet or soft to ride a straight line, then turn around. Tires can leave ruts that ruin groomed trails for other users. Ruts lead to erosion and costly trail repairs.

What should I do if I see wildlife?

Do not feed or harass wildlife. Leash dogs immediately upon wildlife encounter and keep your distance.

What tire pressure should I have on my fat bike in the winter?

If you are breaking through the trail surface leaving a rut, losing traction and are unable to ride in a straight line, please reduce your air pressure.

2-5 PSI is a good range for SOFT GROOMED SURACE AND BASE.

4-8 PSI is a good range for HARD-PACKED SURFACE AND BASE.

How can I help ensure off-leash zones/trails continue to be available?

Leash dogs immediately upon wildlife encounter and keep your distance. Do not let your pet chase or play with wildlife.

Be aware and in control of where your dog is and who they are approaching at all times. Not all dogs respond the same to other dogs.

Always place dogs on leash immediately upon arriving at trailhead parking lots. That way excited pooches never get the chance to harass others, get hit by a car or sneak in a bathroom break while owners are distracted.

Skyridge & Clark Ranch

November 18, 2024 by

The Skyridge and Clark Ranch trail areas offer a variety of winter recreation opportunities. The Skyridge Peak trails climb over 750ft to an epic viewpoint at the summit. In addition, Skyridge trails are easily accessed and tend to see less snow and cold conditions, making them ideal for winter hiking.

Clark Ranch offers groomed fat bike and Nordic opportunities when conditions allow. However, the trailhead may be inaccessible in snowy or muddy conditions. Dogs are not permitted in Clark Ranch.

Bonanza Flat

November 18, 2024 by

Bonanza Flat offers a high-alpine adventure with 12km of groomed Nordic trails and 5 miles of groomed multi-use trails. At approximately 9,000ft, these trails aren’t for the faint of heart (or lungs), but those willing to make the effort are rewarded with unparalleled views and great snow winding through pines and spruces.

Although beautiful, Bonanza Flat is isolated, and adverse weather is possible. Users are encouraged to check weather conditions and come prepared for the worst.

Lost Prospector

November 18, 2024 by

The Lost Prospector trail area offers a great escape from the hustle of Old Town. It features classic winding single-track through groves of Gamble Oak and great views. Hiking up PC Hill is a quintessential Park City experience any time of year. The Rail Trail is groomed for Nordic Skiing and provides access to Round Valley and loop options for various singletrack routes.

Singletrack trails aren’t groomed for fat biking, but their relative popularity means they are often ridable.

Round Valley

November 18, 2024 by

Park City’s crown jewel of open space, Round Valley, comprises 2,100 acres of rolling terrain. Free to the public and open for multi-use, Round Valley offers the most extensive groomed Nordic and single-track trails throughout the winter. With options for all abilities and select areas dedicated to Nordic only, there’s something for everyone. The 6-mile-long Big Easy Loop is groomed for fat bikes, as are the directional PorcUclimb Down Dog trails.

Well-behaved, off-leash dogs are welcomed (although not permitted in Nordic-only areas). Classic tracks are set as conditions allow. The grooming report and interactive map are updated daily throughout the winter.

Glenwild

November 18, 2024 by

Glenwild boasts over 25 miles of winter singletrack bliss. Although no official winter grooming occurs, the trails are frequently used and often packed. Easy access, plentiful parking, gradual climbs, fun descents, and various loop options make this a popular area to explore. Early and late winter season conditions may be variable, so it’s best to confirm below-freezing conditions to avoid mud.
