Hello Park City! Another day served sunny-side up! Unfortunately, the system we were counting on to deliver the goods to Round Valley last weekend came in very warm, raining on our parade. Bonanza faired a bit better, but a week of sunshine and high temps has melted the snow like, well, a snowflake in the sun.
Zach and Roy boi took a lazy Sunday ride, track-packing what we received, but conditions still remain elusive for those XC kicks and glides under Wasatch peaks.
The thing about trails is, whether snow or dirt, they endure! It is only a matter of choosing the correct mode of conveyance. Round Valley is in the process of drying out. With forecast warm temperatures, expect good conditions mid-to-late weekend for being out on the trails. Until then, be mindful of changing conditions, as we are in the freeze-thaw cycle. Trails generally get pretty mucky by 1pm. If you find yourself with dirt-platform heels, might be time to turn back. Currently, XC skiing is not recommended at Bonanza as coverage is very sparse and a proper pack & groom has not been completed.
The Bonanza Winter Shuttle will begin operations this coming Friday (the 19th) whether we are able to groom or not. If there's one thing second best to xc skiing, that's spending a day on the mountain taking in the view and sunshine, so despair not!
Tomorrow night @ 630-830pm at the intersection of Cammy's & Seventy 101 is this Winter's inaugural Round Valley Moonshine Social. Hotdogs, meteor shower, and s'mores. Oh la la. Could there be s'more in life? No, I think not.
